How to achieve at extraordinary levels while staying confident, healthy, and joyful, Carole Pertofsky
Today my guest is Carole Pertofsky, who specializes in positive psychology, well-being, and resilience. She co-developed and taught Stanford’s first course on the psychology of happiness, and she teaches courses on the art and science of compassion. She also leads seminars and consults professionally. She received an MEd from UC Berkeley.
On this podcast, our guest is Carole Pertofsky. She is the Director of the Wellness Program at Sanford University. National facilitator and presenter on the how of positivity, well-being, happiness, and mindful self-compassion.
I’ve had the privilege of knowing Carole both personally and professionally. I appreciate her strong attention to scientific study but what I am most grateful for is her kindness and humble way of being, qualities that often leave me with a deep sense of gratitude for life. That was what happened in this conversation.
On this podcast, Carole goes into the science of high performance and well-being, making distinctions between those high performers who are able to achieve while staying healthy and positively engaged and those high achievers who achieve at extraordinary levels but feel miserable and burnt out.
- The power of learning in community
- We very much undervalue the amazing benefits of education as a mental health experience.
- Together, in ‘guided learning communities’, together learning how we can access more positivity, confidence, and ultimately be more successful in reaching the goals that are important to us.
- When we have gatherings of people, whether these are with peers, talking about the masks that we wear…we suddenly realize we are not alone. We all struggle…and there is magic when we come together in communities where we can support each other, realizing that none of us stand alone (when we are willing to take off the mask).
Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I will see you next month!
